  • Adjustable mouth block plane, low angle works best
  • Smoother #4 or 4 ½
  • Jointer #7, 7 1/2 or 8
  • Rabbeting plane, shoulder plane will do, should be at least 1" wide
  • Scrub plane
  • Set of bevel edge chisels (1/8,1/4,3/8,1/2, ¾)
  • 3/8 or 1/2 mortising chisel (1/2 best)
  • Wood mallet
  • Steel hammer
  • Plastic container for stones (to be kept in water)
  • 2-1000 grit water stones, a 4000 and an 8000 finishing stone
  • Dovetail saw, should be rip tooth with little set
  • Carcass saw, cross cut teeth for joinery
  • Medium size tennon saw, rip tooth
  • Fret saw, coping saw won’t do, the blades are too thick.
  • Try square, 3" or bigger
  • Marking gauge and mortising gauge
  • Dividers, 6 inch
  • Measuring tape
  • Dovetail gauge or sliding t-bevel
  • Paraffin wax
  • Bench hook (you will have to make this)
  • Winding sticks (you will have to make these)
  • Glue

Please note your tools need to be of good quality, we will not have time to fettle planes and saws. High-level handwork requires tools of the same quality.
