The Rob Cosman Marking Gauge is ready out of the box.  It features a sharp blade that will slice - not crush the wood fibres. The head has a hard rubber o-ring embedded inside to provided just the right amount of friction. Manual adjustment is easy and the knurled locking screw firmly holds the head. A generous flat side on the brass head prevents the tool from rolling off the bench.

The only drawback to tool attachments is the set up required to go from one operation to another. Invariably you no sooner switch the tool when you realize you forgot a step and have to undo the change. To eliminate this Rob offers his "complete" mortise gauge, ready to go when you need it. Pair this up with Rob's Marking Gauge and your good to go!

The tool comes with:

• two required wrenches, 1/16th and 1/8th
• two sizes of set screws, the longer is used to attach to the Rob Cosman marking gauge, the shorter is needed for other US made wheel type gauges.
• a brass knurled locking handle
• an O-1 hardened cutter.

Rob had this blade made with an acute angle to better penetrate in hardwoods and to prevent crushing the fibres of softwoods. It comes face honed up to 16,000 grit and is ready to use. In addition to fitting the RC gauge, it will also fit other US made wheel type marking gauges. Made from hardened O-1 tool steel.
