In this workshop we will get to complete several woodhinge boxes. The first box is made from pine to help master the process before digging in to the more expensive woods.
In past classes some students were able to complete more than a dozen boxes during the week. There will be some box joint boxes as well as hand dovetailed ones. The later is the focus of the class while the faster box joints provide the practice needed on the hinge and other processes. You will need your dovetailing tools as well as some supplies such as pre cut wood, box bottom material and finishing supplies. A list will be provided when you register.
The shop is open from 6:30am to approx 10pm each day except Friday when we close down just after supper.
Students will need to have taken the “Training the Hand” workshop to be prepared for this class. We will cover process of making and in some cases make the various jigs for doing the box joints, the hinge, the dowel and shooting boards.
This class is a bit more relaxed than the other advanced workshops since each box can be made in a matter of hours, it is also a favorite among students because of the satisfaction of completing several boxes.
